Mondo Duplantis releases love song for girlfriend

Mondo Duplantis, 25, has immortalized his love for Desiré Inglander in an engagement.

Now he does it too in a new song.

– I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little nervous, he says ahead of his second song release.

In March, Mondo Duplantis released his first song “Bop”. A song that at the time of writing has over 1.8 million listens on Spotify. But the single was not a one-off event. After some time working in the studio, the release of his second song is now approaching. It will be released at midnight.

– It feels good. It’s a completely different feeling this time. The first time it was more new. But it’s going to be exciting, Mondo Duplantis tells Sportbladet a few hours before the release.

A Tribute to Love

Mondo described his previous song as “sexy and has some vibes”. His new song is more about love. As the title “4L (4life)” suggests, it’s about something he hopes will last forever. What he’s referring to, of course, is his upcoming marriage to girlfriend Desiré Inglander.

Admittedly, they have been forced to postpone their marriage plans, but next year the plans are for a wedding.

– It’s a little more love-driven and I’m writing about my engagement to Desiré. It came very naturally and nicely. It’s a nice and comfortable vibe, he says.

Is it hard to release a song like that. Where you show your love like that?

– At the beginning when I wrote it was a bit like that, I didn’t really want to write like that. But when I made it a bit more… love-related, it came naturally. Because it’s easier to write about your current situation and where you are in life.

“I vibe with the song – that’s the most important thing”

He continues:

– It’s a little more vulnerable. But I also think it’s cool in a way. To love your girl, your partner and show it. It’s a good thing.

What does she think of the song?

– She really likes the song and that’s also pretty important to me. If she doesn’t like it, it doesn’t feel as good in my stomach.

He says he hopes as many people as possible like the song, but that ultimately it’s music – it’s about taste and opinion.

– Not everyone will like the music I make, but I make music that I like and that feels good to me. I vibe with the song and that’s the most important thing.

Have you worked a lot on it?

– Yes, it’s actually quite a lot of work, more than I thought. I love making demos with the guys in the studio. It’s easy to make a demo in one day, but when you look at every detail and when you want everything to be exactly how you want it – then it’s a lot of work. But it is what it is and I love the process of it.

”Probably has a little Adhd”

He says he likes to do things that “take time”. He mentions pole vaulting of course, but also golf and making music. Things that require a lot of patience. He also likes to play poker.

– It takes as much time as you want. I also love being in the studio, which also takes a lot of time. Yes, things with a lot of detail in general, he says.

He puts it like he probably “has a little ADHD”. That he can have a good focus on things and become “a little obsessed”.

– As long as it feels like it gives and doesn’t take energy from me. “If there is a will, there is a way”. I think that is always right.

Revealing additional song releases

In a stressful life between training, competitions and the media, music becomes a way for Mondo to relax.

– Yes, I think it’s the best thing in the world for me and the latest music I’ve made also feels like the best I’ve made. In some way it helps me a lot.

– I get obsessed with things and if I didn’t have the music I would just be walking around thinking about pole vaulting and that wouldn’t have been healthy. Then you would have gone crazy in the end.

Finally: Will there be more music from you?

– Yes, it will be. I have quite a few in my pocket.
