Assault at strawberry sale in Jönköping
A fight broke out at a strawberry vendor in Jönköping on Midsummer Eve.
A vendor was beaten – and three men have been arrested on suspicion of assault.
– There has been some kind of fight, says Angelica Forsberg, press spokesperson for the police.
The fight broke out at 11 a.m. on Midsummer Eve at the market stall on Västra Torget in Jönköping. A strawberry vendor was beaten, according to Expressen.
This strawberry stand had also been vandalized earlier in the day.
What was behind it all is still unknown, according to the police.
– I don’t know what the fight is about, but somehow several people have attacked a person and assaulted him, says Angelica Forsberg.
Several people were detained at the incident and later the police announced that three men are suspected of assault. Two of them are in their 30s and one is in his 20s.
Full of people in the square
A man has been injured and taken to hospital.
– When we got there it was quite calm, it was chaotic before that and we have received indications that there was a fight on site. I don’t have detailed information about how it happened, but it’s not about the logging, says Angelica Forsberg.
The square was full of people, both families with children and pensioners. The police will now investigate what happened, including by questioning witnesses.
– This happened in a square in the middle of the day, you would expect there to have been people there, says Angelica Forsberg.
