Jaromir Jagr, 53, has changed his mind – continues

Jaromir Jagr has turned 53.

Next season he looks to be making his 39th (!) season as an elite player.

In an interview with Sportsnet, he says that his career will continue.

Many people complain that their ailments become more frequent as they pass the age of 30. At 53, Jaromir Jagr was still playing elite hockey with his Rytiri Kladno last season.

Last fall, the legend declared that it would be his last season, but in an interview with Sportsnet he now reveals that he has changed his mind and will likely be on the ice when the next season starts.

– I think so, hopefully, he says when asked by Sportsnet.

In the fall of 2022, the then 50-year-old Jagr had decided that enough was enough, but in December, when Kladno – of which he is the majority owner – had major health problems, he was forced to make a comeback.

After that, his career has continued to roll. Last year he had another great season. In 39 games, the forward scored 16 points.

Praises McDavid: “Can see God in him”

The NHL legend is currently back in his former club Florida to watch tonight’s sixth final game between the Panthers and the Edmonton Oilers. In an Instagram post, Oilers superstar Connor McDavid praised Jagr as “a legend and one of the greatest ever.”

Jagr didn’t want to be worse when asked what he thought of McDavid.

– I respect how he plays, it’s fun to watch. Sometimes he makes very good players look stupid, it’s special. I always admire people who are on a different level than the rest. I believe in God, so I can see “God” in him. It’s something that’s amazing, says Jagr.
