They get new Michelin stars in Sweden
Sweden has received new stars in the Michelin Guide.
A total of three.
But no new restaurant in the entire Nordic region has been awarded three stars. News, reports and analyses in Sweden and the rest of the world.
On Monday evening, the Nordic gastronomic elite gathered in Odsherred, Denmark, for this year’s Michelin Guide ceremony.
There new stars were awarded.
Before the ceremony, 22 restaurants in Sweden had stars in the guide. A single restaurant, Frantzén in Stockholm, had three stars, while four restaurants had two stars and seventeen had one star each.
Sweden’s new Michelin stars
Sweden has now been awarded new stars.
First up was Petter Johansson’s Ergo in Stockholm, a newcomer to the list that opened in Östermalm a year ago. The restaurant gets one star.
José Cerdás Hoze in Gothenburg also gets a star. He was in Denmark and greeted his family by starting to sing “Blinka lilla stjärna” from the stage.
Thomas Sjögren’s restaurant Signum in Mölnlycke goes from one to two stars – and also gets a green star, which stands for sustainability commitment – for its “creative, modern cuisine inspired by Nordic traditions”. Each dish is like “a work of art”, according to Michelin inspectors.
– This is what we have been striving for. I am extremely happy, says Sjögren from the stage.
More prices to Sweden
Three stars were not awarded to any new Nordic restaurants, but all those that already have three stars – including the Swedish Frantzén – will keep theirs.
During the ceremony, two new Swedish restaurants also received the Bib Gourmand award, which is awarded to restaurants that serve well-prepared food at a reasonable price.
They were Ärla in Stockholm and Västergatan in Malmö.
At the same time, Frantzén’s sommelier André Bekker was awarded the Michelin Sommelier Award.
