After a night of queuing – Janne, 52, bought six eggs for one krona

When an Ica store in Örebro opened its doors at 6 a.m. this morning, around 300 people were already waiting.

The reason? A sale where prices on most items were much lower than usual.

Janne, 52, queued for almost twelve hours – and shows his receipt afterwards. Latest news clips from Expressen.

It was the second time Janne Larsson queued for “Tok-Torsdag”, an event held by the local Ican a few times a year.

– I didn’t really have anything else to do so I might as well go there.

He sat in line from 6:40 p.m. in the evening until 6 a.m. the next morning. He was joined by almost 300 people, many of whom were students, says Janne.

Once he was allowed to enter through the gates, he was frozen solid, but he still started shopping. Among other things, he got a six-pack of eggs for 99 öre and just over a kilo of pork tenderloin for just over 50 kronor. In total, he bought almost 25 items for just 123 kronor.

As a reward for his efforts, he and the other 49 people who were first in line received a gift card worth 500 kronor to shop with.

When Expressen reaches Janne on Thursday morning, he has slept for a few hours.

– But now I’m actually on my way down to Ica again. My boyfriend wanted to go there and check out what was going on so I’m coming along, he says.
