Fear: Not allowed to stay outside
Sprinter Samuel Purola, 25, has had his spring season completely ruined.
The Finns have not been allowed to go outdoors.
– I should have started the medication, but now I just have to bite the bullet, he tells Iltalehti.
On Wednesday, Samuel Purola started his outdoor season when he finished third in the 200 meters at the Motonet GP in Lahtis. The time 21.00 was the best time of the year in Finland.
But afterwards the 25-year-old was still disappointed.
– I have to say that it doesn’t feel like anything at all. I had no expectations. I knew that my body wasn’t ready to compete yet. It’s a constant feeling of cold and a tired body, Samuel Purola tells Iltalehti.
The system crashed
The Finn refers to the fact that he has had miserable conditions all spring. The sprinter suffers from severe allergy symptoms and the problems were so severe that he has not been able to stay outdoors at all.
– As soon as we got back to Finland, the whole system went into reverse. I should have started taking medication, but now I just have to bite the bullet.
Purola has not received an official diagnosis for his symptoms, but he is fairly convinced that it is a pollen allergy.
– No allergy has been identified, but there is something. I’m sure of that.
